Craps Dice Control: Myth or Reality?
Craps is the game that everyone in the casino is instantly drawn to – like a brilliant white light that all the moths flock to – players in a casino just love craps. Well, I’m particularly biased because it’s my game of choice. In fact if you’re a high roller there is no better game with more betting options and more sophistication than the sprawling craps table. When it comes to punting in the game of craps, very few gamblers will reject the notion of some of element of control over the dice. That’s why you see all those idiosyncratic movements – the rubbing of the hands, the blowing into the cupped hands, the kissing of the dice, the flick of the wrist, the twist, the shake and the eventual roll. You see, like everything there is some element of risk but there’s also some element of control.
How is it possible to control a random throw of the dice in craps?
Let us postulate for a moment and assume that a roll of the dice is not some random event. I can hear all of you folks voicing your discontent with such a seemingly spurious assertion. But think about it. If you have practiced the art of doing something, over and over and over again, what do you think your likelihood of getting a specific outcome is? Let us assume that the outcome of a roll of the dice can in fact be controlled – to a degree – by perfecting a controlled dice throw. We’re not saying that you can shoot for a specific outcome every time, but we are saying that robotic movements with equal rhythm, force and flow will indeed produce a greater statistical probability of results. Therein is the clincher!
How does a craps dice roll produce a result other than something completely random?
You see a random throw will produce completely random results. But by keeping the flow, the style, the force and the positioning of the dice constant, that random element is severely minimized – which means that a greater chance of more consistent rolls is possible. Experts know that it works because they’ve won massive amounts of cash. We can call these practiced throws by any name including: dice control, controlled throwing and the like. But what it’s about is really gripping the dice in the same way every time and then following the same kinetic movements when you throw the dice. The goal is not to roll a seven as often as it would come up in a random roll of the dice.
Learning to almost perfect a craps roll can in fact be taught. And with enough practice, certain outcomes can be minimized while others can be maximized. But that’s the subject of my next post. Now that your craps appetite has been wet, I will be waiting for you to log in next time for the 411 on rolling consistently
